September 's Across The Pond Sew Along Project

Key-Ring Pouches Projects

The arrival of the month of September brings us the beginnings of a new school year, cooler evenings, shorter daylight hours, the changing of the color of the leaves,....
and a new  Across The Pond Sew Along Project to work on!

Amanda, The Patchsmith, has chosen the theme of Key-Ring pouches for this month!
How fun is that?!!
She has found some truly adorable patterns for us to make!

Isn't Amanda's pouch cute in this fun fabric?

And then she made another style of pouch, perfect to  attach your key to, with room for a license and credit card.....

I actually  made the Round Earbud pouch earlier this year.... to go with my pouch set.

Erin's pattern for the circle zippered pouch is really easy to follow, for anyone that is new to putting in a zipper.  Her tutorials are excellent!

Amy, of Amy Made That!  blog, found some other adorable zippered pouch patterns.
I fell in love with the Ruffle Zip Pouch tutorial she found, at  See Kate Sew.

I went to look over the tutorial at See Kate Sew,  and then I decided to make this ruffle zip pouch for my September project.
After I got the fabric and zipper picked out , I remembered that I recently got a ruffler foot for my Viking Topaz 30 machine (from my husband for our anniversary!)  I went online to look for any directions /tips on how to use the foot.  I found a u-tube video right away , that was helpful.

My Viking Gathering Foot
I changed the stitch size from 4 (far left) to 6 (on the right)
This was not a big enough a ruffle yet, so I looked up how to change my tension on the machine.  I changed it from the default tension number to a 7.

You can see the fabric begin to curl and ruffle up!
It's beginning to gather up
Now , we're goin' to town with some ruffling!
The ruffle is attached to the front.  This is the  front and back

It is so cute, measuring in at 4 in by 4 in !

Just the right size for a few cards, and a key attached outside to a tiny D ring, that I added (on a loop)  before sewing up the outsides
I'd love to see any key-ring pouches that you make.  You can hook them up to our Across The Pond Sew Along Flickr group to share with everyone.  Lattegirl40 has added a totally cute  small wallet key-ring pouch already!
